Why do donks do that?

I see donks do this a lot.. its kind of ruining the game for players that work hard at it i understand poker has variation and all and that he was “just trying to steal the blinds” but ya know he was in 11th place with 24 players left. do you or anyone have an explanation as to why you would risk being crippled at that point with THAT hand 23 off suit? i mean hes “only a 85-14 dog” here lol.

We’ve seen poker players (or pawn shops) put WSOP gold bracelets up for sale in the past. However, for the first time, we’re seeing a winning WSOP hand being put on auction since Chris Moneymaker’s 2003 WSOP Main Event hand is up for sale on eBay. The winning hand is encased in glass, and it has the board cards, Moneymaker’s winning hand, Sammy Farha’s cards, and a WSOP certificate as well.

So what’s the asking price for this little piece of poker history? Well the seller, “londone4,” has started the bidding at $7,500, and there have been zero bids so far. Perhaps people aren’t willing to pay this kind of money for poker cards, or the right person hasn’t heard about the auction yet – who knows?

In any case, there’s an interesting story behind how the seller managed to get the cards, and they explained this in the listing by writing, “I was there when it all happened, working behind the scenes at Binion’s Horseshoe. I obtained permission to keep the deck, so right after Chris had posed for those famous photos where he was holding wads of cash high in the air, I carefully placed all of the cards from that final hand on top of the rest of the deck, kept in sequence, along with the dealer’s cut card, and put the complete deck back into the double Kem box along with the unused deck.”

Looking at the listing and the certificate in the case, it appears as if the cards are legitimate. Even still, this isn’t a diamond-encrusted, WSOP Main Event gold bracelet like what Peter Eastgate sold for the sake of charity. So in the end, I don’t see the cards selling for a whole lot more than $7,500 if somebody does manage to make a bid.

Plant marker project to keep my kids busy

I feel like every summer I just come up with lots of ways to keep my kids preoccupied, or else they destroy the house or hurt themselves. Having three boys is a full-time job, in addition to the part-time one that I run out of my home. But I'm pretty crafty and luckily find all kinds of fun things for me to do with my kids. Now my boys know better than to mess with my garden, but they're always wanting to help me work in it. Well, I know that they mean well but I'd rather find something else for them to do.

While I was looking up some ways to keep them busy, I ran across the sitewww.CLEARwirelessinternet4g.com. I showed it to my husband that night and we agreed to change over our home internet service to it.

I also just happened to find a plant marker project. I thought this would be a great way that my sons could help me in the garden without actually helping me in the garden.

FBI messin with the poker Gods AGAIN... :<(

Federal prosecutors have charged some of the biggest names in online poker with bank fraud, money laundering, and illegal gambling, the US Justice Department announced on Friday. Those behind PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker, and Absolute Poker have had their domains seized by the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), and 76 bank accounts owned by the companies have been temporarily shut down via restraining orders.

Online gambling technically became illegal in the US starting in 2006, when legislators barred wire transfers, "payment system instruments," and credit cards from being used as payment methods for online gambling sites. Unsurprisingly, this didn't stop many gambling sites from running offshore operations and continuing to grow. Full Tilt Poker, for example, has grown large enough that it regularly sponsors players at the World Series of Poker. The domains of popular poker sites are no secret among online gambling aficionados.

According to the DoJ, however, 11 defendants behind these poker companies used fraudulent methods to trick payment processors like Visa and MasterCard into accepting payments from US users. Members from all three poker sites allegedly "arranged" for payments to be processed for things like jewelry and golf balls.

The DoJ claims that the poker companies were able to accept "billions of dollars" in payments this way, but not without the help of co-conspirators who helped to open up cover-up bank accounts in order to store the money. These people allegedly created fake corporations and websites in order to disguise the payments, using whatever names "the processor can get approved by the bank."

It gets more sordid. After having bank accounts shut down in 2009, several defendants allegedly bribed small-time banking institutions into cooperating with the scheme. For example, a private bank in Saint George, Utah ended up accepting a $10 million "investment" from individuals behind the accused poker sites in exchange for the processing of gambling transactions, with a $20,000 bonus for the bank's vice chairman.

As a result, the 11 individuals behind the three poker sites now face "at least" $3 billion—you read that correctly, billion—in money laundering penalties, in addition to the shut-down of 76 bank accounts in 14 countries.

Visitors to Full Tilt Poker, Poker Stars, and Absolute Poker are greeted with the above

"These defendants, knowing full well that their business with US customers and US banks was illegal, tried to stack the deck. They lied to banks about the true nature of their business," FBI Assistant Director-in-Charge Janice Fedarcyk said in a poker-pun-filled statement. "Then, some of the defendants found banks willing to flout the law for a fee. The defendants bet the house that they could continue their scheme, and they lost."

So far, the reaction from the poker-playing community has been one of shock. Poker site TwoPlusTwo is filled with users expressing disbelief at the charges, and a thread in our own forums questions the legal issues behind pursuing non-US residents in the scheme. According to Manhattan US Attorney Preet Bharara, however, the charges are largely related to "tricking" US banks into participating in the fraudulent schemes. "Foreign firms that choose to operate in the United States are not free to flout the laws they don’t like simply because they can’t bear to be parted from their profits," he said.

The Bad Beat was at 172k the way it breaks out is 30% to the "loser" of the hand 17.5% to the winner.. the house and the rest get the balance... the betting went (.25 .50 ) 1x raise by me pre UGT.. he called in the small .75. Just us 2 in. The flop was A85. So i hit my set i bet pot. He RR to like 6 i pushed him ai for his other 5.85.. I started the hand with $24-- he at $12--. he flips his 88 for the set i have mine..Turn an 8 and i realize. holy shit an ace on the river and.... bummer. That ace on the river would have been worth about 30k to me 60k to him.. Weird thought immediately i had was it was a 1 in 44 shot to hit the ace on the river.. Close one eh?
